How to get started with Smart Timeline + Duration #
Step 1: Install the App #
- Go to the monday.com apps marketplace
- Search for Smart Timeline + Duration
- Click Install and follow setup prompts
- After installing, open the board where you want to enable timeline automation
Step 2: How to Add Smart Timeline Automations #
- Click the Integration button at the top of your board
- Search for Smart Timeline + Duration
- Select the automation that fits your workflow
- Map the Start and End Date columns
- Click Create Automation
🔔 Friendly Reminder #
1. You must use two separate date columns – one for Start Date and one for End Date.
2. For optimal performance and reliability, we recommend processing up to 100 items at a time. This helps maintain system stability and ensures a smooth experience.

Available Smart Timeline Automations #
Timeline & Date Sync
- When start date and end date are set, generate a smart timeline and calculate the duration.
- When both the start and end dates are set, automatically calculate and display the duration.
- When the smart timeline is updated, recalculate and update the duration.
- When the duration is updated, adjust the smart timeline accordingly.
- When the smart timeline is set, update the start and end date columns accordingly.
- When an item is created, set timeline to start today and end in number of days.
Status Automations
- When the duration is more or less than a certain number of days, change the status to something.
- When status changes to something, assign person name, set smart timeline to start today and ends in number of days.
Notifications & Reminders
- When the duration is more/less than a certain number of days, notify assign person with a custom message.
- Every time period when smart timeline ends and status is equal/not equal to Done, notify person with custom message.
Item Organization & Assignent
- Every time period when smart timeline ends, then move the item to group.
- When status changes to something, set the date to the next occurrence of the same week/month/year from the original date.
